Shani, Clash of the South West Strongman Comp @ MFW 2019

Shani is a very proud mum of 2 gorgeous boys, Zeth and Tahj. She signed up to MFW on the 6th of Jan 2018 and hasn't looked back since. Shani already had a very fit and healthy back ground which included Pole Dancing so it was no surprise when she became interested in Strongwoman training. From there she has gone from strength to strength literally. With many competitions already under her tiny belt (a few firsts) in a weight category of under 62.5kg she is one of the strongest women if not the strongest women in the gym.

She is now doing the Strongman Training course and helping out with our SM/SW classes.

Shani has been one of our biggest supporters and we are so very proud of her achievements and extremely proud to be sponsoring her.

Her goal is the Arnolds in 2021

“I started my fitness journey about 8 years ago. “Long story lol”Right at the beginning it started with pole fitness and I fell in love with the strength and femininity side of it. Over the years Fitness has aloud me to know myself and attributes a lot more especially when I’m enjoying something that I love, I excel in it. I put all my focus and all my drive into it. I usually find a way to make it not a challenge if I can read instructions well physically I sometimes find things a lot easier. Which is what helped with pole fitness.

Over time, giving a few amateur pole routine shows a try I kinda lost interest in pole fitness as I felt like I was getting pushed into doing shows and to become elite when at the start all I wanted to do it was for fun! In the end i lost the fun side to it so I signed my self up to the gym for the first time so I wouldn’t loose upper strength.. and that was the end of pole fitness and the start of my gym life

I started like most women, unknown and also scared to go in the weights rooms where all the guys were training. I always stayed in the cardio room.
I tried a few different gyms then I found Momentum fitness with the help of Shani who encouraged me to join also MFW were the new gym in town and at the start they where really welcoming. And now like my second family. They were encouraging me to try new things!! Strength classes, strength and conditioning and Especially strongman/strongwomen classes and as I said earlier when I enjoy something I excel in it and that was another thing I had excelled in also. I gained SOO much strength with this program and built muscle. I loved the changes in myself not just physically but mentally. I thank MFW so much for helping me become a healthier ,stronger women I have become today.

So during this whole time and a bit before I had always wondered what it would be like to try bodybuilding but had no idea.
I had tried a 8 week LSF gym program along with strict meals and achieved AMAZING results, I had done this all by myself which gave me even more drive to want try bodybuilding. That’s when I met another gym goer “Hannah” (and now my friend) She had experience with bodybuilding and she amazing results! She steered me in the right direction to get a coach.

I had a bloody great starting point for bodybuilding as I feel that the strongwomen programs MFW had given me the perfect starting point for bodybuilding and I’m so glad I had given it a go.
From there I started prep with the help of my coach teamriseabove the best coach in the world!! This prep went for 24 weeks. It was the most craziest thing I’ve ever done in my life! It was hard but I had so much drive and my whole life practically revolved around it! The whole experience I absolutely loved. There were highs and lows but nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment and achieving your goals. The start of prep I was going to compete in the ANB federation but my coach and posing coach convinced me to do WBFF instead . and at the time I thought I wasn’t good enough! Boy was I wrong!! I always doubt myself in life and sometimes I need to push my doubts aside and just go for it because I placed 4th in bikini diva short category!! Out of about 30 or so girls. This was the most amazing thing I’ve ever achieved in my life and I’m soo glad that I gave it my all and tried new things because I wouldn’t be where I am today with out stepping out of my comfort zone. And having amazing people by my side to help me achieve the things I have done. So thank you to Teamriseabove Thank you to Momentum fitness. Thank you to Hannah and Shani. And my number fan Steve. All for always believing in me. And thank you to everyone else who believed in me. My family and my friends!!
You all have helped me grow into the woman I am today.
